More techniques have been added to our repertoire which in turn has opened up new and challenging paths. This term we have been working on TWO difficult parchment craft procedures combined. Heavy going, but well worth the effort. As always, group members are tackling the work with patience, and as always, the result is pleasing.
Last term, we learnt that the Sussex Rehabilitation Centre at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath was looking to start a craft group to help patients who are recovering from strokes or brain damage. Two students who are working there wanted to buy materials so that they could start the group up, but, money being so short in this present climate, their efforts to finance the project ended in disappointment.
The result was that the U3A parchment craft group members have donated enough crafting supplies to cover most crafts that the patients are likely to need:- art, card-making, drawing, knitting, embroidery, paper, card, rubber stamping and so much more. Not only that, but subject to the appropriate clearance from the authorities, a group member has kindly offered to go along to the centre and demonstrate various crafts.
My thanks to everyone for their help and support in this venture. Thanks too, for another enjoyable year, and here’s to the next one!
