Mon Apr 20th                                     THE GEOLOGY  AND SCENERY OF  THE PRESELI  HILLS,  PEMBROKESHIRE

                                                                                                                     Monday April  20th  2020.

                                                                                                                      Start  : 10. 30 am.

                                                                                                                  Leader  :  Mr.  Sid  Howells.

This is a walk of approximately  6  km much of it on open moorland on the Preseli  Hills. These are composed of Ordovician mudstones
and siltstones  with igneous dolerite intrusions forming a distinct tor landscape moulded by glaciation. The dolerite is the source of  the
Bluestones which form part of Stonehenge and with this historical connection will make it a particularly interesting walk.

We meet at the informal parking area on the open common next to Waldo's Monument approximately 1 km west of  the village of Mynachlog Ddu
                                                                                                       Grid ref.  SN  135 303

To get there travelling from the south turn right off the A40 Whitland to Haverfordwest road at the Narberth roundabout  onto the A 478 Crymych
road and turn left ( not sharp left  ) at Glandy Cross opposite the petrol station approximately 3 miles north of Llandissilio. In just over 2 miles
at the village of   Mynachlog Ddu turn left and then the next right on the outskirts of  the village and carry on to the open common where the
Waldo Monument is clearly visible on your left.

Please bring waterproof clothing, good walking boots and a picnic lunch.
