Cotswold U3A Link

Welcome to the Cotswold Link Network

The u3a movement is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organisation for people who are retired from full time working, offering informal educational and recreational activities in the daytime. There are many interest groups and new ones are started when sufficient people have the enthusiasm to participate. Some members will share their skills whilst others will learn. It is a mutual self-help system and tutors are not normally employed.

The Cotswold Link is a network of u3as within the national movement and covers the area of the country defined as Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire up to the Welsh border. All u3as in this geographic area are welcome to join the Link, even if they are also members of another network.

Our aims are:

  • to further the experience and exchange of knowledge between local u3as;
  • to assist with formation and support of new u3as within the Link area;
  • to initiate and support joint activities.

The objectives of the Link are to represent the views of its members at any meetings of Networks and/or Regions within u3a nationally, to ensure that links are forged and expanded with any other Educational and Third Age organisations in order to have a strong representation of the movement, and to encourage or instigate joint study days and other large scale events.

The Constitution of the Link and a document describing how the Link is run can be viewed by clicking on the document title on the sidebar under 'Links'. There is also a link to a Third Age Trust document answering frequently asked questions about Networks in general.

Cotswold Link reciprocal arrangement
In the interests of sharing and perpetuating the aims of the u3a movement, the Link has set up a reciprocal agreement between its member u3as. Any member of a Link u3a may attend one group activity in another Link u3a, without having to become a member of that other u3a. General meetings of a u3a do not count as a group activity. Session fees for the group activity will still apply. This is an entirely voluntary agreement between Link u3as and although it is hoped that all will participate, the independence of any dissenting u3a is recognised.
