Once a month on the the third Monday of every month [except August] at the United Reformed Church Hall, from 2.00-4.00 pm with a break at half time for tea or coffee and biscuits. There is a contribution of £2 per meeting to cover the costs of Room Hire plus tea and biscuits. If the fund builds up we would like to have a speaker from time to time, and also would like some outings.
It was a unanimous decision by the group to concentrate on Romsey and its place in Hampshire. Particular interests were Street Names, Farming, Transport, Roads, the Anglo-Saxons, Hill Forts, Romsey Abbey, French prisoners of War in the Napoleonic Era, and Local Justice under the Abbess as Lord of the Manor. Also the start of the County Court and Magistrates Courts. Members will be starting to look into all of these and discuss at future meetings.
If you are interested please use the envelope link on the right of this page to send an email directly to the Group Leader. Alternatively, you can contact the Groups Co-ordinator from the Contacts Page or come to a monthly meeting.
