Art Appreciation

The Art Appreciation Group meet once a month on the First Monday of each Month at 13:45pm at Broadmayne Village Hall in the Committee Room, finishing at around 15:30pm.

Our ‘study’ of art is very informal. Commencing with an introduction to Gothic Art we have viewed DVDs, enjoyed talks and slideshows from members who have shared their interest in a particular artist such as Gustav Klimt and Canaletto and have also undertaken several visits to places of interest. In March 2017 we visited Mottisfont Abbey to view an exhibition of the work of Rex Whistler and in August 2017 we had a guided tour of the sculpture park at Roche Court which introduced us to an incredible collection of large sculptural pieces within the landscape. On the 14th of June 2018, we visited Montacute House which exhibits pictures on loan from the National Portrait Gallery.

In the future, we hope to arrange further visits and to enjoy talking about art in general.
