Objective and Criteria
The Beer, Wine and Bus Pass Group is unique insofar as it has no objective to improve skills, fitness levels or to fulfill any ambition to triumph over your friends and colleagues in competitive situations.
On the face of it there is really no point to this group and how it exists seems to be a miracle; but it does and it is now the largest Interest Group in u3a Sutton Bridge!
Members of u3a are in the age group of 55+ and most of us in this group can barely remember when we were 55.
What we can remember though is that we loved to have fun and to take every opportunity to laugh and enjoy the company of friends.
Essentially this is what the Beer, Wine and Bus Pass Group is all about, that is our objective and every month we achieve it.
It is a fact that people are funny without actually meaning to be. However, if you get a group of people together who individually have nothing to prove and put them in an environment where they are comfortable and relaxed they are even funnier.
I can tell you without any exaggeration that I have left some of our Group outings with the tracks of tears, through laughing, on my cheeks.

The Group meets on the last Friday of every month and we visit a Pub that is situated on the 505 Bus Route which runs between King’s Lynn and Spalding.
I select the destination Pub and check it before confirming to the group that we shall meet there. I make sure that the access is suitable for all, that the toilets are up to the mark and that the staff at the Pub can accommodate a group in excess of 30.
Once the venue is fixed this is communicated to all members that are on-line and by post for those not.
I also inform the members what Bus I shall be on and everyone tries to get on that bus at a stop convenient to them. The fun actually begins on the Bus and by the time we get to the Pub it has similarities to being in a group of teenagers again!!
Once in the Pub everyone buys their own drinks, snacks etc; no one is expected to buy a round of drinks for 30 people;)! Alcohol is not compulsory we have members who prefer Tea, Coffee or soft drinks.
At approx. 5.00pm we leave the Pub and make our way to the nearest Bus stop and do the whole journey in reverse.
If you would like to join our merry band you will be made most welcome and I am certain that you will make new friends very quickly.
You must be a member of u3a Sutton Bridge and that is so easy to do, just visit our website and follow the link to this Group, or any other group that takes your fancy, and the Group Leader will contact you within a few days, it is as easy as that.

I am looking forward to our next Group outing, I always do, and I hope that you will be sufficiently intrigued to contact me for any further information you may need, so until then I send you my best wishes.
