The group welcomes anyone who is interested in starting their own family history research, through to experienced researchers and everyone in-between!
We are an enthusiastic group who benefit from the group meetings on a number of levels. It might be telling our story or describing the life of a particular ancestor. explaining what we have discovered since the last meeting, what we have learned and sharing details of new resources. It might be just to chat with others. We may want to ask questions that may help us with our own research. We often arrive with questions and leave with lots of thoughts, new information, new plans and ideas for our research.
Sometimes we focus on a particular topic and discuss it in some depth, for example, what we need to know about the 1921 census or you might choose to head directly to the computers which give access free of charge to Find My Past and Ancestry.co.uk
Our interests are varied. It might be a particular interest in photographs, churches or villages and towns linked with our own family. Others enjoy the social history and enjoy a deeper understanding of the effect of social change on their families. History is brought to life in a variety of ways.
I’m sure the group members will agree that the monthly ‘get together’ increases our motivation whether we are new to family history or have been researching our family history for years.
