Science and Technology
Meet: First Tuesday 10am-11.30am
Location: Place House
Cost:
Group Leader: Michael Goodyear
The Science and Technology Group has been operating for over three years now, and we have run a successful programme of talks, members’ sessions, and visits. The members come from a wide range of backgrounds, and so the group caters not just for those who worked in science or technology areas, but for anyone with an interest in this subject, no matter what level their understanding may be.
Recently, we have had talks on a wide range of subjects including Communications, the Geological History of Hertfordshire, Concorde, and Exoplanets, all of which were well-received with plenty of discussion afterwards. Prior to lockdown, we also arranged visits on a variety of science-related themes, such as New Scientist Live, the Amazon Fulfilment Centre, The Royal Institution and Airbus, and we intend to resume this programme again soon.
Members are encouraged (but by no means forced) to participate; we have run several member-led sessions, covering, for example, science-related books, films and TV programmes we have liked (or not), and also meetings with short talks by members on various scientific themes of interest.
Our meetings are held at Place House, on the first Tuesday of each month, at 10am. If you would like to join, please contact the group leader using the blue bird icon in the top right hand corner, and you’ll be sent details of our forthcoming meetings.
