Interest Groups

Interest groups are at the heart of the U3A's activities and are run by the members for the members. You don't have to join a group. but it's an excellent way to make new friends and share interests with like-minded people. Most groups meet once a month, usually in hired accommodation or in group members' homes, but some, such as Local History, Walking, Gardens or Bird Watching, will meet at different venues each month. All interest groups are self-financing. Depending on the activity, there may be additional charges to cover room hire, materials, refreshments, entry fees, etc.

Details of current groups, including meeting times and contact details of group convenors (known in Heybridge U3A as CoGs), are contained in the monthly News Sheet. Most groups have their own web page - click on the group name below to view.

Members can join as many groups as they like, subject to availability of spaces. Occasionally, a group may have a waiting list, so it is advisable to contact the CoG to check if there is a space. New groups can be set up if there is sufficient demand and someone willing to act as CoG.
