Singing for Pleasure
About the group:-
Our Singing for Pleasure group is open to everyone. There’s no need to be able to read music or to have any confidence in your ability to sing. It’s purely for enjoyment and the benefits that come with using one's vocal chords. We sing songs from a wide range of genres, some unaccompanied to give our voices a gentle workout and produce simple harmonies, and others accompanied by the piano.
We’re a fairly large, but friendly, group, and after we’ve sung for an hour there are cups of coffee to be had. If you’ve been under the impression for most of your life that you can’t sing – now’s the time to come along and discover that you can !
The number attending has not yet got back to pre-COVID levels so we are still having to ask for £2 per session at the door. However we no longer request a contribution towards tea and biscuits. We are also, slowly accumulating a fund that will pay for a replacement of the folders, which are starting to look a little tired. We want to get professionally printed (small) booklets, which will be lighter and easier to manage than the slippery plastic folders - easier to read too. The plan is to review what songs are popular, and which not, and to add in lots of new material. We will ensure that we have all the words of all the songs (no missing sections) and also that the words and Barbara's piano music match. But aside from the longer-term plans, the group is well attended and everyone who comes enjoys it and is uplifted by the end of the session.
When:-
The group meets on the second and fourth Friday of the month from 10.30 am to 12 noon at the Bouverie Hall Pewsey
