Geology 1: Our Solar System
This course commenced on Thursday 1st February, 2018 and is nearly finished. It was the first time of it being offered and it will be offered again at a later date. It deals with the spectacular system of which our planet Earth is part and examines the effect the planets have on us on Earth as well as the various attributes each of the planets have individually – and they are totally individual. It is a quite spectacular course and is thoroughly illustrated.
I will have handed out about a total of 54 sheets of A4 of reading and "souvenir" material as the course progressed. Because there are so many, I shall have to make a small charge of 5p a sheet to cover some of the cost of the laser cartridge. The total charge spread over the ten fortnightly meetings will amount to £2.70 for what, in effect, is a small book. This will be in addition to the contribution towards room hire cost which will normally be £2 per person per meeting (unless the Library changes its pricing structure), so it shouldn`t break the bank.
If you are interested in learning about our sun and the neighbouring planets in the vastness of space and what they mean to us on Earth the join the course when it next runs for a voyage into space and time.
The course when next delivered will consist of 10 meetings and will be held on WEDNESDAY afternoons, fortnightly, from 2.00 until 4.00 at Arnold library. All meeting dates will be given at the first meeting.
So, if you are interested, you may put your name down on the reserve list and you will be contacted near the date of commencement which will not be until mid-2019. The reason for this long future date is that I will be delivering the course Geology 3 (of 10 fortnightly meetings) before I can commence Geology 1 (Solar System) again.
BUT if you would like to learn the history of our planet Earth or about the Earth`s crust and how we survive on it, then perhaps you would like to join these courses which are advertised elsewhere on this web site, the first of which will be delivered later this year. If you wish to know more, see me at the General Meeting, or...
