Literature
We began with TEN AFRICAN SHORT STORIES, read over 10 weeks, then we read TEN AMERICAN SHORT STORIES... followed by FIVE IRISH SHORT STORIES and moved on to TEN ENGLISH- INDIAN SHORT STORIES. A series concentrating on Shakespeare made a change to the programme.
We read and discussed short stories by Indian-English authors such as Salman Rushdie, V S Naipaul, Aravind Adiga, Anita Desai, Rohinton Mistry and others. All the stories are provided by the convener as email attachments.
We meet at 2.30 on Tuesday afternoons. I look forward to hearing from any members or prospective members who are interested in joining in.
The courses are conducted via weekly Zoom meetings. As Convener, I will send one story each week, a week before the Zoom meeting, by email attachment. These stories will be annotated where necessary and appended to them. If you are interested but not sure if you want to commit yourself, you could request from me the title page, which includes a list of the stories I have chosen, together with my introduction and the first story, to see how you feel about it.
To join the group, please send an email to Jonathan Brown the Literature Convener
