Isle of Wight

Four of us went to the Isle of Wight on 29 February for 5 days. The trip was with Daish's and included Hotel, we stayed at Daish's Hotel, Shanklin, Breakfast, 3 course evening meal and two nights half price bar from 5pm to 9pm.

We were picked up on Saturday in Nottingham at 8.30 and caught the ferry at Portsmouth, we arrived at the hotel late afternoon so had a relaxing evening in Shanklin. The meals were excellent with a choice of at least 3 starters, mains and desserts. The bonus was the food was always HOT! (We don't know how they managed to do this but was perfect).

Our first night included the half price drinks so we went into the entertainment room. The entertainment on all nights included a Quiz, Bingo, Artist, Bingo, Artist.

On Sunday we booked a trip to Osborne House from the hotel, which was the home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. A really interesting visit but you can actually do this independent if you prefer, the local buses around the Island are very good.

Monday we walked from Shanklin to Sandown along the sea front. We were so lucky with the weather!!

Tuesday we used local bus to go to Godshill which is a very quaint little village, then we went on to Ryde so another lovely day and great weather.

Wednesday after breakfast we returned home, we left around 9.00 am.

There are plenty of walks, trips can be arranged from the hotel. Alternatively you can use your Bus Pass on the local buses, A day rover ticket costs £10 (they even have contactless on the bus!)
