Jazz

The Jazz Group meets on the 4th Tuesday of most months for a couple of hours in the afternoons from 2.00 o’clock. Usually each member brings along at least two music selections which they wish to share with the other members. Sometimes we will have a short talk about a particular artist with some examples of their music. We met in members’ homes which means recordings may sometimes include Vinyl LP’s as well as the usual CD’s. On occasion we have also viewed items on DVD or from YouTube.

Our tastes in Jazz are very wide and reflect the numerous styles of jazz from the earliest in New Orleans from 100 years ago through to the contemporary styles of today. You don’t have to like everything, only be prepared to listen and of course be free to express your opinions. We have even played some music hard to define as jazz but enjoyed and discussed it anyway.

We always indulge in a half time break with obligatory tea and coffee consumed to the mellow sounds of crunching biscuits and cakes. If you would like to join us or just to try us out, contact me on the number available in the Newsletter and I will let you know when we will be meeting
