At this early stage in the formation of the Group, and before consultation with members can take place, it is not possible to define the Group’s remit in fine detail.
However, it is hoped that the Group will provide talks, meetings and outings in accordance with prevailing regulations. It is anticipated that the remit will be wide-ranging, to include plants and fungi as well as animals. Some members have expressed an interest in a particular aspect of natural history, and it is hoped to cater for a wide range of interests. Derbyshire Wildlife Trust have been very supportive in this venture, and it is hoped that their guidance will continue to be available to us.
We live in an area blessed with a wonderful natural heritage, and it is hoped to “exploit" local resources to the full. Given the adverse pressures on many aspects of our environment, some members may wish to support action for wildlife, at a local level or beyond. There is plenty of scope for positive inputs. It is hoped that the Group will be able to enjoy all that the natural environment can offer, and at the same time, make a worthwhile contribution to conservation, in the widest sense.
