Our next venture will be to travel by coach to LONDON, where we will have a conducted tour of the HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT. Meeting at Tesco Uttoxeter at 8am on TUESDAY 28TH May and looking forward to an interesting and enjoyable day. There is no cost for the tour so the only charge will be to cover the cost of the coach...£33 per person. We need 30 participants to make the trip viable, so please come and join us ! Contact a s a p to register your interest... gloverhg@yahoo.com or 07815296364 Or see me at OPEN HOUSE

So here is our next adventure, a Sunday afternoon visit to see and hear the fabulous organ at Pipes in the Peaks on 21st April, and join in with the choruses! You'll see from the photo (right) that the percussion instruments are situated above the audience around the building and we can watch them as the organ plays - an experience not to be missed! 20 seats have been reserved, so book quickly (£15) as this concert is VERY POPULAR!! As it is not very far away, we could make our own way there.

A chance to see a Scottish threesome folk band called North Sea Gas that do lovely vocal harmonies, on Friday 1st March.
You can sample them on You Tube. Transport arrangements to be decided. They are playing at the Boat & Horses, 137 Trent Road, Beeston NG9 1LP. Doors open at 7.30 for a 8pm start. Tickets cost £20. If you would like to go, please get in touch with Simon Haas at email@simonandpat.plus.com.

On Monday 8th April, there will be an opportunity for U3A members to have a factory tour round JCB. It starts at 1pm and goes on until 3pm. Details are as follows...

An amazing opportunity to venture behind the scenes of JCB’s world famous diggers; this unique tour includes historical information, little-known facts, exciting insights and gets you up close to the JCB manufacturing process.

Your visit will begin with welcome refreshments, and a short presentation in the JCB Theatre showing our corporate brand video on the global manufacturing facilities and products. You will then be invited by one of our Tour Guides to attend a personal tour of the ‘’Story of JCB’’ exhibition with time to visit the JCB shop.

The tour will then take you to the assembly line of the world-famous Backhoe Loader machine; here you will see the process of how the machine is built from the delivery of the sheet steel, profiling, laser cutting, welding, paint shop, assembly and finally the finished product!

Pre booking is essential. The cost is £30.54.

We can arrange to share lifts so please meet at Tesco's by the bus stop in front of the Cine bowl at 12.15. I will let you know exactly where to meet in JCB. If getting to Tesco's is a problem for you, let me know and I can give you a lift.

Please note that we will be on our feet for one and a half hours.

I would like to book tickets by the end of February to make sure we get places so please contact Simon Haas soon, at email@simonandpat.plus.com.

Please can you get the £30.54 to me either by Bank Transfer (sort code 30-98-34, a/c no. 01768139. Please let me know by email if you send money) - or bringing the money to Wilfred House coffee mornings on Wednesdays between 10.15 and 11.30.

Cheers, Simon Haas
