MIt is now well over two years since the Enjoying Jazz Group was formed at a meeting held in the “Treacle’s” tea rooms in April 2017 followed by our first musical evening on 31st May at the James Figg public house in Thame.
This musical adventure has developed strongly since that date driven by enthusiastic contributions from the members on various suggested theme afternoons. So much so the original by-monthly meetings have now been replaced by regular monthly gatherings held on the last Wednesday of each month at a convenient time of 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
From the start we have been indebted to Tom Goldsmith of the James Figg for his and his staff’s support lending his Stables Reception Room for free although this spacious room tends to be a bit cold in the winter. This being so we transfer our winter meetings to cosier surroundings like the Six Bells last winter. The Six Bells looked after us well but we are seeking a slightly larger venue for the coming winter of 2019/20 but we may be back.
Attendance is free of charge although most members take advantage of the bar facilities which adds ambiance to our gatherings
The other significant membership lead development was the introduction of an optional “Fish and Chip Supper” served just after the 7:00 pm end of our sessions. The Jazz fades into the background while members enjoy conversations about the subject, their experiences and favoured artists/bands and eras.
New members are enthusiastically welcomed!
