Our Group attend The Showcase Cinema in Peterborough, monthly, on 4th Tuesday mornings for movies starting around 11am-ish. We usually try to choose a couple of films starting at roughly the same time, members can elect either! If you haven't been there lately, the complex has been completely refurbished and now all screens have luxurious reclining, wide allocated seating! Online acquisition of free "Insider" cards provide discounted admission and member advantages.
As the shows timings takes us up to and sometimes just beyond lunchtime, it's advisable to take a snack to enjoy during the screening. Rather than it becoming just a "cinema trip" we encourage everyone to meet up, sometimes before and at other times after the movies for a coffee in the foyer in order to have a brief chat about what we've just watched and catch up on all the "goss!!"
Members with cars offer seats and transport is normally available for all.
If you enjoy the cinematic experience with comfy seating and great stereo surround sound then this Group is for you!!
Recent movies selected include "Bohemian Rhapsody", "The Favourite," "Fishermen's Friends," The Good Liar" and "Yesterday."
Although not exclusively for U3A members, a winter series of Saturday evening movies is screened at Queen St Church, commencing in October through to end of March. Films chosen are those recently at the cinema so if you've missed one then look out for details on the U3A Facebook page or website. They start at 7pm, no admission charges but donations are welcomed to defray expenses, and have a refreshment break mid-way through for teas, coffees and biscuits plus a chat! Lots of U3A members regularly attend!! All films shown here are available to borrow at £3, in case you happen to miss any.
