Dates for your Diary
Meetings
Wed Apr 17th Paul Barwick
Paul spent 34 years in the Police Service in many different roles and responsibilities, both in plain clothes and uniform.
“The White Mouse” tells the story of WW2 spy Nancy Wake. A remarkable woman who lived with the daily threat of death for almost 5 years to help shorten the war for the allies. Her incredible courage and strength of purpose is an awe-inspiring tale of resolve and bravery.
Wed May 15th Neil Sadler
International airports are fascinating places to pass through. But have you ever wondered what happens if you work at one……especially as a police officer at Britain’s second busiest airport, London Gatwick?
Where was the 1917 Grand National horse race held? • What have Vinnie Jones, Naomi Campbell and Peter Buck got in common? • Do you know your LAX from your LHR airport codes? • The “Golden age” of air travel • The very expensive sleep-over, or The stowaway to freedom.
Wed Jun 19th A musical picnic
A big change from our normal monthly event. This year we will be at Kilndown Village Hall for a musical picnic. A professional folk singing duo, John and Di, will be joined by our very own Country Dance Tunes Music group to entertain us. Bring your own chairs, tables and a sumptuous picnic.
Start time is 12.30, and remember, it is at KILNDOWN VILLAGE HALL.
If the weather lets us down we will move to inside the hall.
Wed Jul 17th Janie Ramsay
We welcome back Janie for another fascinating talk on her time in the antiques business. There will be tips on how to buy, how to haggle, what are the pitfalls, and some of the extraordinary things that can happen when you open your doors to the public in this unique profession.
