Family History

Meet: 1st TUESDAY in a month

Location: YCC, Low Street

Time: 10am to 12pm

Cost: £5 for venue hire every 3-4 months. Frequency is dependent on group numbers.

Leader: Charlie Stothard

A group for those interested in researching family history. We look for genealogical records for individual group members using internet resources. Internet access and a projector and screen is available at the YCC, so this can be done as a group exercise. We also research and discuss conditions affecting our ancestors' lives. Topics looked at regularly include such subjects as the Poor Laws and Workhouses, Social Mobility, Working Conditions, Infant Mortality, Illegitimacy and many others. We arrange a visit to local places of interest for one of our meetings in the summer months.
