Wine Appreciation
This group meets in the evening at various venues. We try to vary the meetings as much as possible and members are encouraged to suggest different wines and events.
We have sampled wine made by Women vintners recently and in August we met on a lovely summer evening on Leigh Cliffs, although the tide was out again!
Duncan was in charge of the wine selection and chose Sainsbury's recommendations for under £10. We started off with a delicious Sauvignon Blanc from Brancott Estate called Flight; interestingly it was only 9% alcohol and less calories than a normal white, all for £8.50. We then tried a Campo Viejo Rioja Blanco for £8.50. It was interesting, but not as popular as the first white.
On to the reds, Hardy's Stamp Merlot at a bargain £5.75 was very gluggable! Then to finish, a Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo Red for £8.75 which was quite gutsy. An excellent and economic tasting was enjoyed.
