Ukulele

Leader - Jim McMahon

2nd & 4th Monday at 2.00pm in the Tin Tabernacle, Hythe.
This group is for enthusiasts of the Mighty Uke of all standards. It was formed for players who had attended the Beginners Ukulele course and wanted to continue gaining knowledge, skill and experience, and do so in a friendly, no pressure way. Now of course we are happy to welcome anyone who has some basic knowledge, but regrettably not an absolute beginner.
We have a large songbook of popular tunes, from simple two chord structure to the more advanced, and initially our leader chooses a programme of songs, explains new chords (or reminds us when we’ve forgotten them!) and off we go, strumming and singing away the two hours. Choices by each member can also add a wide variation in the music we play.
It really is a fun group, with a bit of serious learning at the same time. We discuss and try out various arrangements, chord forms, strumming techniques and performance ideas. Some chat and humour adds to the whole thing. Learning in a group is ideal, is guaranteed to improve one’s skill and makes all your lone practising at home worth it.
