Tarporley & District

Trips and Outings

Unlike the other groups, all members of Tarporley and District U3A are able to take part in trips and visits - there is no need to contact the Groups Co-ordinator or make a specific request to join the group.

Our monthly trips are a great way of getting out and about without having to worry about the organisation or driving. They also provide an excellent opportunity for meeting other members of the group.

Our outings have included visits to places of interest (Trentham Gardens and Moorcroft Pottery, Stokesay Castle and Ludlow, A Cruise of the Manchester Ship Canal, Llangollen with a trip over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, York, Stratford with a tour of the Theatre, Lichfield and the National Memorial Arboretum, Asbourne followed by an afternoon at Uttoxeter Races, Port Sunlight and Lady Lever Art Gallery, The National Media Museum in Bradford and Saltaire, World of Glass at St Helens, Southport with a tour of The Atkinson, Malvern and the Morgan Factory, Llandudno and Bodnant Garden), the theatre ("Dial 'M' for Murder" at Manchester Opera House, "Under Milk Wood" and "Jack and the Beanstalk" at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, "She Stoops to Conquer" at the New Vic, "Rehearsal for Mrder at the Regent), musical performances (The Halle and John Rutter's Christmas Festival at Bridgewater Hall, Fascinating Aida at the Lyceum), dance ("Coppelia" and "Romeo and Juliet" at The Lowry, "Snow White on Ice" at Venue Cymru Llandudno). We also went to Paris in May 2015 and visited Florence and Tuscany this year. We did a two-night trip to London last August, including theatre tickets for "Miss Saigon". We welcome suggestions of places to visit from members.

Details of trips are advertised at our monthly meetings as well as on this website. Updates are also sent out by e-mail. Places are allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. Places on trips can sometimes all be taken quite quickly. It is always worth putting your name on the reserve list if a trip that you would like to go on is fully booked - there are nearly always a few people who discover they are not able to go on a trip they have paid for. Payments for trips are only refunded if a replacement can be found.
