Orienteering Walking Group

The orienteering walk group usually meets on either the 3rd Monday or the 3rd/4th Tuesday of the month. Group members walk (i.e. they don’t run), nor do they wear lycra either!

New members, irrespective of prior orienteering experience, are welcome to join the group. For further details and/or to join the group's email distribution list:-

The group email list is mainly used for sending out walk invitations, about 10 days prior to each walk date.

Walks take place on average no more than 40 minutes driving time of West Bridgford. This area covers parts of
Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland & Warwickshire. Locations visited include new locations and some visited previously (after a few years have elapsed from previous visits).

We typically depart for walks from West Bridgford c 845am & arrive back c 315pm. This allows time for c 3 hours walking time & c 1 hour (optional) for lunch after the walk in a local cafe or pub. We endeavour to facilitate car sharing for journeys to & from walk locations, subject to individuals’ preferences.

Members walk in sub groups of 2-4, novices being partnered with more experienced walkers, although most new members are quick to learn.

Costs are usually restricted to travel, parking & lunch. Maps are provided free via email attachment. More experienced walkers & sub group leaders are encouraged to buy a compass.
