Welcome to the Local History and Historical Buildings Group, usually referred to as the Local History Group.
We are a group of over 100 members keen to explore local history within the county of Essex.
Our meetings now place in St Luke's Church Hall, usually on the 1st Thursday of the month from 2:00 pm until 3.30 pm.
Please note that occasionally meetings may take place on a different day or at different times if we are visiting a place of interest.

David Newman - Salt Extraction from the Blackwater. For over two thousand years the north bank of the Blackwater Estuary has been a centre of sea salt production in Essex. David explores the history of the industry and reveals why it was centred on Goldhanger, Heybridge and Maldon.
All indoor meetings commence at 2:00 pm. Cost will vary between £2 and £3 depending on finances. The cost will be announced on the day.
