Easy Wheelers do a ride of between 15 and 20 miles trying to avoid the more strenuous of the Lake Districts hills, rides are at an easy pace. We have a stop at a café for coffee and cake. In order to achieve a variety of rides that avoid hills and main roads we often travel away from Keswick. Rides are adjusted to the seasons and if weather conditions are too bad rides may be postponed or cancelled.

Rides start between 9:30 and 10:00, how long they last depends on how quick members ride but allow at least 3 to 4 hours.

All types of cyclists, including those using electric bikes, are welcome, however the precautions taken by councils to keep motorbikes off cycle tracks may cause problems for recumbent bikes and tricycles, where these are known in advance it will be noted in the ride details.

Skiddaw u3a has three cycling groups Easy Wheelers, Social Cycling and Power Biking, meeting on alternate Tuesdays for the first two and on the fourth Thursday of the month for the latter. Please note that all three cycling groups operate administratively as a single group so by signing up for this group you are also joining the other two. If you join this group you will receive emails for all the rides, there is no obligation to ride just attend those that suit you. We suggest that new or returning cyclist ride with the Easy Wheelers first to get a measure of the level of fitness required.

If you would like to join or require further information please contact the group convenor.
