We are a very friendly crowd and are always pleased to welcome anyone who may be interested in joining us.
Our choice of subjects is widely varied and our talks come from volunteers in the group and also from occasional guest speakers. Talks are often given using computer presentation and we have had talks about a particular item of memorabilia.
Recent talks have included Irish Mythology, Transportation to Australia and WWII Partisan Escape from Yugoslavia. Future talks will be on subjects including 'Clocks & Time' ‘Scott and his companions on the Antarctica Expedition' 'The Duke of Wellington' and a member tracing his Huguenot roots.
We also organise trips to places of historic interest – recent visits have been to Winchester, Stratford-upon-Avon, Southwark Cathedral and Salisbury. We have also been discussing a possible visit to St George’s Chapel, Windsor.
We have an interval break for coffee or tea, to give an opportunity to get to know other kindred spirits.
