History Of London

Group Leader: John Baker
Group meetings: Group A – 2nd Thursday morning of the month
Group B – 4th Thursday morning of the month

The London History Group investigates and explores the two-thousand-year story of our capital city from Roman Londinium to the present day. Our learning activities at the monthly meetings are supported by the use of DVD materials, books and presentations by individual members. Recent themes have been City Guilds, London Streets and Historical Jobs and Professions. We also organise London walks and visits to places of interest. Recent visits have included the Guildhall Library, historic Deptford, St.James Square and the surrounding area, the district around London Bridge and Bermondsey.
