Italian - Beginner Fumblers
Leader: Phyllis Thomas
This group is for people who know (or once knew) a small amount of Italian but do not feel ready to join a Conversational Italian group. We get together via Zoom on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. and usually start the hour by each sharing a short, previously-prepared piece in Italian (for example, what you've done in the past week) and always by using a free online translator (for example, Google Translate or DeepL).
We are also reading and listening to a Linguaphone allTalk story about an English woman who knows no Italian but who has to visit Florence for work. From that we explore Italian grammar, learn new vocabulary and idioms, and also come to appreciate a little about Italian culture.
None of us are proficient in Italian and most panic at the thought of having to construct a sentence out of the blue, but our aim is to have some fun while we attempt to improve our self-learning together. We'd love to have you join us; please contact the leader via the 'Send a Message' link on this page.
