History
GROUP LEADER: For further information please contact Christopher Clark.
VACANCIES: None currently
VENUE: The Library at the Admiral Hornblower in Oakham High Street. There is an expectation that we purchase refreshments.
DATE AND FREQUENCY: This groups meets at 2.00pm on the third Wednesday of each month.
DESCRIPTION:
We follow the u3a motto of: Learn, laugh and live. We have a different subject each quarter. Rather than one person taking the lead we decide at the end of each quarter the subject for the next one. We are interested in the political, social, cultural, religious and financial impacts on history - any aspect, any decade.
Each member takes an area for them to research. For example, we recently researched the six wives of Henry VIII. Individuals then chose ‘one wife’ to research and then shared that research at subsequent meetings. We are just finishing scientists. This will be followed for the first quarter of 2024 by musicians.
