Walton on Thames
We choose a topic a month ahead by majority acclamation and meet in The Weir pub in Walton on Thames on the 3rd Monday of the Month at 1pm. All welcome. Some of us take advantage of the pub grub at the same time as the meeting! Or just come and talk.
We have a summer and a Christmas lunch. Out of the 14 members usually 8-10 attend. Some members also attend the free monthly lectures at the National Army Museum in Chelsea and Western Front Association Meetings, in Dorking.
We began meeting in Feb 2017 with a visit to public lecture at Brooklands Museum. We are an easy-going gang and avoid the curses of club bureaucracy! Members can attend as they wish and topics to discuss are wide ranging appealing to many or not everyone. Meetings are arranged by email. You can research things to the nth degree or just turn up and listen to those who have! We include eating and drinking as folks wish, hence the pub venue to encourage conviviality. But you do not have to eat, you can just have a coffee or a soft drink as you wish!
