Astronomy for Beginners
WHAT DOES THE GROUP DO:
Ever wanted to know more about what’s visible in the night sky, and how the view changes from season to season?
This group aims to provide a helpful and enjoyable framework for discovering what's up there and how you can see it!
We meet one afternoon per month, complemented by occasional night-sky observing evenings, which are arranged according to the weather. We explore the main sights and celestial events, month by month – from the moon and planets, to the major constellations, as well as some warmer daytime solar astronomy. We also look at how you can capture photos of the night sky
LEVEL OF EXPERTISE:
No prior knowledge of astronomy is required, and no expensive equipment needed – naked-eye stargazing is a fairly economical pastime! However, the group also provides guidance on the choice and use of binoculars, and telescopes, should you eventually want to go down that route
Monthly, on the third Thursday of each month, from 14:30 to 16.30
The Studio, Windmill Cinema, Windmill Rd, Littlehampton' BN17 5LH see map of the area.
