Discovering Shakespeare

Leader: Brian Levy.

Day and time: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 2.30pm

The meetings will look at the historical and cultural context of his plays and the continuing relevance of his work today. His dramatic poetry and his unique use of language in both text and in performance will be explored.

We read a Shakespeare play at our meetings on the second Wednesday of the month. We hold a brief discussion after every scene before the next scene when the ‘cast’ is changed so that everyone can have the pleasure of reading the brilliant dialogue. After two years on Zoom we now hope to resume face to face meetings. To ensure that everyone can take part we limit the number of participants and so since its formation we have been a closed group. However, we do have a short waiting list of members wishing to join and I will be happy to add further names should any future vacancies occur.
