Out & About Group
UPDATE for the new session 2021 - 2022
Due to current circumstances, the situation regarding any return to visits will be reviewed early in 2022.
The idea behind the formation of this group is for its members to visit places and facilities not readily open to the general public.
Over the past two sessions, the group members have gained an insight into the operation of a state-of-the-art modern cooperage as well as the traditional skills still to be found in one of the few iron foundries remaining in Scotland. Equally interesting tours have been made around Glasgow's Central Necropolis, a bus manufacturer, a theatrical workshop and studios, and Stirling Council's recycling facility.
It is hoped that the group members will be able to provide new ideas for visits and, where possible, use personal contacts to bring these to fruition.
u3a members are expected to re-register each year for the group. There are usually only limited number of places available for each visit. Contact Douglas Cumming via the form on the CONTACT page.
