Country Dancing

Group Leader : John Green Tel: 01933 397767

This group, is devoted to English Country Dance.

The group meet weekly from 10.00 am-12 noon on Wednesday mornings at Weston Favell Parish Hall,(corner of Booth Lane South and Wellingborough Road).

It focuses on some of the dances which make up the incredibly rich tradition of English Country Dances recorded over the last four centuries. Every week the Country dance group are provided with live music by the "Cut a Caper Band" who are all members of the u3a. On the rare occasions they can’t join us the music is provided by CDs.

The dances vary greatly in style and form but all have 2 things, other than the lovely music, in common. Virtually anyone can take part with a little guidance and, more importantly, it is great fun.

We will also learn a little about the history and development of the dance through to the present day.

The Country Dancing group has room for more members. A wide variety of dances is covered from as early as the 17th century right up to the present day. We meet weekly, no previous experience is needed and it's suitable for people of all ages.

Northampton U3A Country Dance Group occasionally join with other local u3a country dance groups such as Wellingborough and Brackley for a joint dance.

Please contact the leader by phone or using the email link on the top right for information.
