May 2021 - During Lockdown we have been unable to to carry out all our usual activies, however our members have been very active going for walks, tending gardens and meeting up for coffees or lunches as and when allowed. Throughout the pandemic the committee has met on zoom, with a weekly meeting to keep up to date with members and changing rules affecting us, and for our formal Monthly Committee meetings. For a number of months we have been having our monthly members meeting on zoom and have had some very interesting subjects, often giving us a laugh as well. Our photographic group has kept going continuously using zoom and this month has been able to go for an outdoor shoot up the coast. We have now re-started strolls (with a visit for coffee where possible), walks (about to start this week) and we have some croquet sessions available for the summer season. Our Holiday group has recently been busy booking short breaks and further trips are being planned for members.

Below is a description of our activities in more normal times which we hope to be able to resume later in the year.

In Washington we hold a monthly speaker meeting on the second Tuesday in every month at St. Andrew's church hall, Concord. The doors open at 9.30am and the meeting begins at 10.15am. The intervening time gives members a chance to socialise, have refreshments and sign up for activities. We always enjoy a varied list of speakers and usually come away from the meeting both enlightened and entertained.

We have a number of interest groups that are well attended. Please browse the group pages for more information on these. Many of our interest groups meet at the Millenium Centre where we have the use of a community room with very good facilities. In addition there are a number of individual events that are organised for members, including an annual dinner, luncheons and trips to interesting places. Members are always coming up with new and interesting ideas for things to do and places to go. New groups can be initiated at any time if there are a few members interested and someone willing to act as group leader.
