Overview
Our aim is to enjoy the Ukulele as a group with many of our songs being easy to play once you have mastered the basics of tuning your Ukulele and learning a few easy chords. We all gradually develop and expand our skills, whilst many in the group without previous experience of playing a musical instrument find great pleasure in their new achievement.
Active membership of circa 50 with varying degrees of musical skill (but all with a sense of humour), gives us a very pleasurable activity within the u3a family, sharing as we do combined knowledge and musical ability.t to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a group was, by common consent, an enjoyable afternoon – top-notch entertainment and a rather good cream tea at the interval. Picture and more info via the link in the right hand column.
The successful group Anniversary Concert was followed-up with with a Christmas Concert in December 2023 – pictured. The packed Community Centre enjoyed an afternoon of well-known and not so well-known festive songs, some carols and a couple of other numbers, with plenty of opportunity to join-in after splendid festive refreshments in the interval.
We are at present running a Beginners' Course, which started in January 2024. They will join the main group when they have gained skill and confidence.
