Geology
The Geology Group started in February 2014. Group sessions are held in the McBoyle Hall, Portknockie on the second Thursday of the month.
Geography is better-understood with a geological background e.g. maps. Free British Geological Survey apps exist, to give access to geological maps; iGeology, Geology of Britain Viewer.
Geological maps help us understand why scenery isn’t there by accident, but represents a snap-shot of continuing processes. The Group Leader is Dr Roddy Owens, a retired geologist.
