The Amblers
We are walkers who enjoy the fresh air and seeing varied and interesting places. Some of us are physically challenged or just getting on a bit and find the pace and distance walked by the walkers’ group too daunting. So, we try to find walks that do not require climbing stiles, walking up steep gradients, or climbing steps. Towpaths lend themselves to our type of walking when the weather is good.
We walk for about an hour, not trying to get from A to B as quickly as possible but ambling along taking in our surroundings whether they are historical buildings, a beautiful view, listening to birdsong or to peoples’ chatter.
We try to fit the walk with the weather – in Summer we visit local beauty spots like Colemere, Audlem, Ellesmere and the Mosses. The Wrenbury Scarecrow Trail and Millennium Mile at Tattenhall are also firm favourites. In Winter we take town walks or visit gardens / garden centres.
Another enjoyable part of our walk is lunchtime – booked at a local pub / restaurant / café.
