Welcome to the web site of the University of the Third Age covering Bridport and and its surrounding villages and communities in West Dorset. We are a Registered Charity, Number 1165000.
The University of the Third Age is an independent national institution with local branches throughout the country. It aims to provide opportunities for those who are retired, semi-retired or no longer in regular employment to pursue and share skills, interests, knowledge and hobbies with each other.
We are a relatively new but very popular and successful U3A, launched in January 2010. Main meetings are held at 2.00 pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Bridport United Church Hall when we listen to, and question, a guest speaker. New members are very welcome to join us. We are an active and friendly group offering a variety of educational, creative and leisure activities, with more than 50 groups including English Literature, Maths for Fun, Bird Watching, Poetry for Pleasure, Bridge, Italian, Music-making, Singing, Needlecraft, Book Groups and more.
Please use the menu to explore in detail what we have to offer.
The full Annual Membership fee is £15 per person, and visitors are always welcome to join us with a view to sampling the proceedings before deciding if the U3A is for them.
If you are not a member, we hope that you will join us. We pride ourselves in being a friendly welcoming group with a wide and varied range of interests.
Joining could not be simpler. Simply click the link and print a copy of the ‘Membership application form’ above, fill it in and send it to our Membership Secretary, Diana Coleridge at the address on the form. Remember to enclose the membership fee. Alternatively and preferably (because it simplifies the process), click the link, print, complete and enclose a ‘Standing order mandate’ with your Membership application.
Otherwise go to the Contact page where you can send the Membership Secretary a message or telephone her on 01308 424431.
We look forward to welcoming you.
