Cycling Group
The cycling group meets in Waitrose car park every Thursday. . During the winter ride destinations are very weather dependent – out into the wind, blown back often to the Horseshoe in High Street by early afternoon, unless the Beaufort in Hawkesbury has tempted us. Currently have two start times, 10.00 for the social riders, (usually about 20 –25 miles), 09.30 for hard riders(about 50 miles). There’s no joining fee- all we ask is that riders are willing to consider assisting with the Festival Ride which we run for the Chipping Sodbury Festival Committee in June.
We operate via email messages and have about 30 (almost all male) members on our membership list. The group is happy to recruit new members and are considering a few shorter taster rides in the spring for potential new recruits, who sign up on the U3A open day, which is of course held just as the weather is closing down. We will also help with advice on how to fettle any bikes back to roadworthy conditions and if the bike is past help we’ll deliver it to a local charity which after repairs sends them to Africa.
