TUESDAY MORNING SOCIAL RIDE
The Cycling Group meets every Tuesday at the Memorial Pavilion in Wyndham Park weather permitting.
Summer: 1st May - 30th September start time is 9.00am.
Winter: 1st October - 30th April we start at 9.30am.
We decide the route and distance to be covered on the day, usually around 3 hours including a stop for refreshments and an opportunity to chat and get to know other group members.
The group consists of e-bikers, beginners and experienced cyclists. It's not a race, just a nice social ride to local locations.
We welcome new members. If you are interested in joining this group please contact the Group Co-ordinator
All members are required to read and agree a risk assessment and guidance and provide details of next of kin before participating in a ride. New members welcome. Please contact the group co-ordinator for further information.
U3A and Government guidance and measures must be followed to safeguard members and the HighwayCode must be adhered to.
The Highway Code: 8 changes you need to know from 29 January 2022.
Rules for all types of road users have been updated in The Highway Code to improve the safety of people walking, cycling and riding horses.
JANE’S CYCLING EXPERIENCE
Before starting the group I struggled to cycle a mile around the block. I gradually increased this to around 12 miles before having the confidence to join a cycling group. The first ride to Woody’s (Ancaster) and home via Hough on the Hill was a challenge but I am now comfortably riding between 20 to 30 miles, and enjoying it.
The lovely thing about this group is that you can ride your own ride, a distance and pace that suits you. Members can set off with the main group and turn back early or those that want an even longer ride often take off after the coffee stop to do an extra 10 or even 20 miles.
You do it your way at your pace and everyone is always willing to support fellow cyclists and new members by adjusting rides to an easier shorter route if required on the day.
