Wine Appreciation Two (WAGS 2)
Another three months of happy wine tasting to report!
In November members presented Wines of Greece and Adjacent Areas after a holiday in the region. As not much wine is exported from Greece some of our tastings were sourced from the country, whilst others came from Waitrose. We were shown maps so learnt something of this interesting area too. We don’t just learn about wine.
In December we enjoyed not one, but two wine-group parties. The first, the joint wine-group was held at the Cricket Club with thirty people attending. An enjoyable time was had by all, with a raffle and a light-hearted wine quiz (set by me and the Internet) with Ian as Quizmaster.
Our WAGS 2 party was, as always, a lovely Christmassy occasion. It included lots of superb wine and another good quiz, as well as delicious food to which everyone contributed.
In January Frank continued his wine tour around Italy. This included a potted history of Italian winemaking and an informative map. All wines ranging in price from £5.00 to £7.50. The whites were 2 Pinot Grigios (from Sicily and the Venezie region) and a Pecorino. The reds were a classic Tuscan Chianti, a Zinfandel from Puglia, and a Montepulchiano D’Abrazzo.
