New Wales Trustee

Hilary Jones is retiring as Wales Trustee (click on TRUSTEE on the main menu above to see Hilary's last edition of her 'Trustee Tips') and Chris Winner from Flintshire U3A is taking over from her. She is, at present, the chairman of Flintshire U3A and of the North Wales Network. and has tremendous knowledge and expertise in ITC and education amongst other talents. Here is a message from her:

I am fully aware that Hilary will be a very hard act to follow but I will do my best to follow in her footsteps to ensure our U3A members in Wales are kept up to date with everything coming from the NEC and more importantly keep the NEC aware of all the wonderful things that happen in our U3As in Wales, (as well of course any concerns that may arise).

I know many of you, I look forward to meeting those I don't know and working with with you all in the future.

Network Meeting and AGM at the Sully Old School 9.30 for a 10.00 am start. Refreshments will be available on arrival.

For the Agenda please click on Network AGM Agenda
For a Nomination Form, click on Network AGM Nominations

The Old School is next door to the parish church, at the western end of Sully. The address is

  • 1 South Road, Sully, CF64 5TG.

Details can be accessed at sites.google.com/view/theoldschoolsully/home?authuser=0. The Old School site says, “There is space for up to sixteen cars in the forecourt, with additional parking available in lay-byes located either side of the Old School.”

The AGM itself should only take a few minutes as there has been no previous AGM so no minutes and no matters arising. So don't let the word AGM put you off coming! The rest of the time will be devoted to the business of running the network.

For those who want a meal after the meetings there are a few local hostelries:

  • just around the corner from the Old School, past the church and 20 metres along Cog Road is The Boathouse, formerly, The Sully Inn
  • eastwards, 800 metres towards Penarth on South Road, the B4267, is the Sully Club, with a restaurant that is open to non members
  • further along the same road, another 800 metres towards the coast, turning right and looking over Sully Island are the Seashore Grill and The Captains’ Wife
  • yet further along, 2½ miles towards Penarth and Cardiff, is The Schooner, a Harvester Restaurant
  • for those wanting to make their way towards the motorway, there is a Beefeater, The Woolston Castle, in Wenvoe, first left after passing under the footbridge.
