Spring is here and restrictions are getting lighter, along with the daylight hours!!
Firstly, a big thank you to all the Members who attended our AGM by Zoom, this was successful with numbers and we were able to get all the business for our year passed. Secondly and very importantly, a big thank you to all new and renewed Members. We now have over 450 Members.
With the ability to meet up out of doors we are now seeing Groups thinking of ways of seeing each other, which is super. We must continue to be careful though, it has been a long year and we are all desperate for normality – stay safe and we will get there.
On May 17th we can meet 30 other Members outdoors and on June 21st we hope that restrictions will be lifted all together. If we all continue to stay well.
It has been good to keep in touch with our Members via Zoom, the Newsletter and Email bulletins, but it will be wonderful to see you all again.
I hope you continue to enjoy all u3a has to offer.
Best wishes
Brenda Stevenson Chairman Stourbridge u3a

**********

u3a has been known as the ‘University of the Third Age’. However, it was thought that this suggested formal learning at a high level. This is not what we are about. The strapline “ Learn, Laugh and Live” is now used to better describe what we do.

After spending years working or bringing up a family, we can offer you an informal way to LEARN by exploring new or renewed interests. We have over 40 special interest groups, covering a wide range of subjects from astronomy to playing ukulele.

All our groups and events have a strong social element. They offer a chance to LAUGH and have a good time.

There are also many trips and outings to choose from, these are on hold at present, but we intend to start again after Covid 19 restrictions are lifted.
We offer many ways to get out and LIVE, rather than staying at home. Several of our groups are about wellbeing and keeping fit. Checkout the Groups tab.

Stourbridge u3a
As the name suggests we serve Stourbridge and the surrounding area, but wherever you live you are welcome to join us if you like what we do and you want to be involved.
Like all u3a branches, we are a self-governing and self-financing body, operating under the Third Age Trust. The Trust is the national body that provides our core principles and vision, as well as educational and administrative support. The Trust publishes a quarterly magazine for members called Third Age Matters.

Joining Stourbridge u3a

The effect of COVID-19 on our activities
Our Group Leaders keep up with changing instructions and will always do their best to conduct meetings within the current guidelines. The Committee are informed by the Central u3a when the Government announcements happen and we circulate these to all.

Monthly meetings take place on the first Thursday afternoon of each month commencing at 2pm. The venue is the New Road Methodist Church, New Road, Stourbridge DY8 1PA.

Covid restrictions have meant that these meetings are now on line using zoom.

All members are welcome to attend the monthly meeting and we aim to have an interesting talk each month by a visiting speaker as well as news of outings and group activities.
