U3A History Group
We suffered the great loss of our Group Leader, Alan Fendley so we have held the Group in abeyance. Alan gave us really interesting sessions and the Group had a strong following. We hope to re-establish the Group at a later date.
Dates of Meetings: Usually at 10:00 on the last Thursday of the month.
What the Group has done in the past
The visit was greatly enhanced by the wonderful scenery and the good weather.
Lunch at The Three Wheatheads ended an enjoyable and informative day.
|We also enjoyed recently a most interesting talk by Barry Eccleston "Twilight of the Empire"|
Visit - "HMS Trincomalee", Historic Quayside, Hartlepool.
This was a trip that was unfortunately not achieved. A group of U3A History members ended their outward journey in the Tyne Tunnel when the bus broke down, requiring being towed out to the other side, and returning home by taxis. This could be arranged again when the Group gets on its feet.
In the past the Group had a series of successful talks and visits which include locations such as Beamish, Segedunum Roman Fort, Newcastle Blackgate, Castle Keep complex, Berwick Walls, Flodden and Barrowburn
The overall aim is to enjoy history in whatever format.
