Group Leader David Thunder.
Our next meeting will be held at Waterleap at 2pm on Wednesday 20 March, when we discuss "The Death of Democracy-Hitler's Rise to Power" by B.C. Hett. You would be welcome to attend if you are interested in joining..
The following books were mentioned as possibilities for future discussion:
The Balkans 1804-1999 by Misha Glenny
Stalin- the court of the red Czar by Simon Sebag Montefiore
1421 The year that China discovered the world by Gavin Menzies
It was also agreed that the subject of Anglo- Scottish relations over the years would be an interesting topic, and that the period 1603-1707 ( from union of the crowns to act of union/abolition of Scottish parliament) might be worth discussion. If anyone comes across a good book on the topic please let us know.
