This group meets 6 times per annum always on the second Monday of a month.
In 2020 meetings are as follows – 13th January, 9th March, 11th May, 8th June, 10th August, 12th October.
John Whitehead founded the group in 2016, with the aim to give members the opportunity to learn about wines, wine history, and other beverages in an unpretentious and fun way. Attendees are given the chance to sample good quality wine at a modest price, express their views, and share experiences.
Average attendance is 50 people. Normally there’s a short presentation about a region or country which covers a wide range of topics from tax to grape varieties. Usually 2 white and 2 red wines are tasted followed by a light cold lunch, followed by a dessert wine.
John says Dadlington Village Hall is on a bus route and encourages attendees to car share. He asks all attendees to help with washing up and tidying the hall at the end of the meeting. He wants to thank Jill Whitehead for her help with the group.
If you would like to come along, U3A members will find John's phone number in the annual programme.
COST - To assist catering costs, members will be expected to confirm attendance/non-attendance in advance. Costs will be shared equally but the plan is to average out at £5 per meeting + £1 U3A sub.
