We meet on Monday and Friday mornings at Wormley Community Centre. The group has been running for several years so is not suitable for beginners. Lesley and Chris

SEPTEMBER 2023

On Friday 29th September we held our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning and raised £250. Thanks to all our members who helped out on the day, made cakes, served tea and coffee and brought raffle prizes. Special thanks to Chris for organising it all. Well done everyone.

SEPTEMBER 2021
On Friday 24th September we held a Macmillan coffee morning. Some of our members made cakes, which disappeared very quickly, and we held a raffle. We had planned to hold another fundraiser with our Monday group on 27th, but unfortunately, we were badly affected by the petrol queues at the garage right opposite the two access roads to our hall. So few people made it that day that we decided to abandon the raffle and just ate the cakes instead. We did, however, still manage to raise £200 for a very worthy cause, and I would like to thank everyone who helped on both days.

SEPTEMBER 2019
On Friday 27th and Monday 30th Sept, we held our annual Macmillan coffee mornings. We had tea, coffee and cakes, some homemade by our members, and held a raffle. We raised a total of £415 for this worthy charity. Thanks to all who helped on the day, and to all our dancers for their generosity.

MAY 2019
"On Monday 6th May, 38 of us set off on our annual holiday by coach. This year we returned to Eastbourne, although to a different hotel. We were very lucky with the weather as, despite a dismal forecast, we managed to avoid the rain, and enjoyed a good deal of sunshine. In Brighton, some of us had a trip on the "doughnut" or British Airways i360 as it is properly known. The circular viewing pod, rising up 450ft, gave us some spectacular views of Brighton and the surrounding countryside. We also enjoyed a visit to a vineyard with wine tasting, followed by a few hours in Battle. Three evenings were spent line dancing, and one night most of us went to a variety show at the Hippodrome in Eastbourne. Our last night included a fancy dress parade, with some very imaginative and colourful outfits. On our return journey we had a couple of hours in Rochester, which is a very interesting town, with its castle, cathedral and connections to Charles Dickens. Special thanks go to Chris for organising the holiday again, and to all our line dancers for making it such an enjoyable trip."

2018
In March this year our newest group of beginners celebrated their first anniversary with tea and cakes. They continue to make very good progress, and are a happy and enthusiastic bunch. In May we had our annual holiday, this time to Eastbourne, a new venue for us, and had a very enjoyable time. It was nice to see some of our newer members joining us, and we liked it so much we are returning to the same hotel next year. We held our annual Macmillan coffee mornings in September, and raised £300. Halloween was celebrated with our obligatory tea and cakes, and pretty much everyone dressed up in some sort of ghoulish ensemble. To round off the year we had a Christmas party on Saturday 8th December, and had a buffet lunch at our last two sessions on Friday 14th and Monday 17th December. After a well earned break we will return on Friday 4th January 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris for all her help and support with the running of the group, and also thanks to our small and trusty band of helpers (you know who you are), who are always willing to help with anything we ask of them, from making tea to blowing up balloons! I wish all of our dancers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

"On Friday 28th September and Monday 1st October, we held our annual Macmillan coffee mornings. Some of our members made cakes which were greatly enjoyed with a tea or coffee, and we also held raffles, raising a total of £300. Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day with refreshments and decorating the hall, and to everyone who contributed to this very worthwhile organisation."

2017

"On Friday 29th September and Monday 2nd October we held our annual fund raising coffee mornings on behalf of Macmillan. Some of our members brought home made cakes, which were greatly enjoyed, and with the help of the two raffles, we raised a total of £365. Thanks to everyone who helped on the day, especially Chris Talbot for all her hard work organising the decorations and refreshments. It was also lovely to welcome back a few old friends who popped in for a cuppa!"

On 10th and 13th March we held fundraising events for the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal and raised £290. Thanks to all who contributed to this very good cause.

We are having our annual holiday this year in Skegness and revisiting the County Hotel so there are no classes on Monday 15th and Friday 19th May.

NEWS FROM 2016

In February we held our first fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation as part of their “Wear It, Beat It” campaign. We held two coffee mornings and raised a total of £275.
In March we held our regular fundraising events for the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal and raised £300 followed in October by our Macmillan coffee morning which also raised £300. These events give us a chance to socialise over a nice cuppa and some calorie free cakes and also give us an excuse to dress up as there is always a colour theme – red for the BHF, yellow for Marie Curie and green for Macmillan.
In May we had our annual holiday in Bournemouth at The Hotel Piccadilly. We visited Bucklers Hard, an 18th century maritime village on the western bank of the Beaulieu River and several of us took the optional half hour river cruise. We also visited the market town of Wimborne Minster with its 12th century Minster Church, Priest’s House Museum and Model Village although it was so wet that day we decided to come back a little early to dry out. We also had a half day in Christchurch which has its own large natural harbour. In the evenings we had our dinner and then made for the ballroom, which has a lovely sprung floor, and danced the night away. On the last night we had a fancy dress theme and some lively party dances.
In June we helped HM The Queen celebrate her 90th birthday with a red, white and blue theme and yet more tea and cakes! We even had a special guest (see photos).
At the end of October we celebrated Halloween with some suitably ghoulish costumes and decorations and the obligatory cakes.
To round off the year we held Christmas celebrations at our last two sessions and then had a well-earned break, coming back refreshed after the New Year.
