Outings and Theatre Trips
Outings range from visits to the theatre, coach, bus or train trips to places of interest and mystery tours. Our coordinator Chris Hill works hard to offer a wide variety of outings to suit most tastes. If you would like regular updates and details of trips emailed to you please ask Chris to add you to the Outings Group email List.
From January 2023 onwards you will now be able to choose your preferred available seat on the coach trips and pay Crossways Travel directly. Their phone number is 01305 851697.
On booking a coach trip, please state that you are a Weymouth U3A member and quote your U3A membership number at the time of booking to obtain a 10% discount. THE DISCOUNT CANNOT BE CLAIMED LATER! All prices quoted below already include the discount.
Cheques for holidays to be made payable to the tour company or other service provider. Crossways Travel give our members a £15 discount on their holidays if you mention you are a Weymouth U3A member at the time of booking.
Prices and times for the day trips by coach are for guidance and may change.

AWAY DAY GROUP - This is a new sub-group of the Outings Group, travelling by train.
The first AWAY DAY trip to Bradford on Avon was held on 6th September 2022 and this was run again on Friday 26th April 2023 as some members were unable to come with us on the first trip.
The second AWAY DAY trip was to Christchurch on 12th October 2022. We will be returning here, as requested by a few of you who were not able to come with us last September.
Chris also organises "bus pass" trips. These are run every two months. Last year we visited Abbotsbury, Wareham and Blandford Forum. In March this year we went to Dorchester where we went had a very interesting self guided tour around the museum and a walk along the canal, past the old prison, Hangman's Cottage and the Roman Town House. This year we visited the Abbotsbury Swannery and saw the cygnets, fed the swans and conquered the maze with a little help from one of the Swannery's staff! We will be going to Sherborne in July and Abbotsbury Gardens in September.
Latest trip to Sherbourne 2023 - Due to rain on Tuesday, Michael decided to postpone the trip until Wednesday. We had a wonderful day out. What a lovely town. We found a very reasonably priced pub (coffee £1.30 for a cup or £1.60 for a mug!) and decided to return for lunch as the food was also great. The staff at the Abbey couldn't have been more welcoming and informative. We also went to the museum; equally worth a visit, and had a wander around the town.
