Outings and Theatre Trips

Outings range from visits to Weymouth Pavilion theatre to coach trips to visit places of interest further afield. Our coordinator Chris Hill works hard to offer a wide variety of outings to suit most tastes. If you would like regular updates and details of trips emailed to you please ask Chris to add you to the Outings Group email List. If you book a trip you will automatically be added to the email list.

Please bring your cheque book to meetings with you if you are thinking about booking an outing. All cheques for day trips to be payable to Weymouth and Portland U3A. If you have to pay by cash, please make sure you get a receipt.

Cheques for holidays to be made payable to the tour company or other service provider. Crossways Travel give our members a £15 discount on their holidays if you mention you are a U3A member at the time of booking.

Prices and times for the day trips are for guidance and may change. Please see the Outings notice board for estimated departure and return times.

N.B. You will be asked to sign your consent for your home phone number & mobile number to be provided to both the tour company, and to the U3A member accompanying you on any trips, so that they can contact you in the event that this is necessary.

2019 OUTINGS

19TH OCTOBER - SUDELEY CASTLE & GARDENS - COST £45
Sudeley Castle & Gardens is in the Cotswolds. It is the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds – Katherine Parr, the last of Henry VIII’s six wives.
The castle contains many fascinating treasures, from ancient Roman times to the present day. Outside, the castle is surrounded by a breathtaking 1,200 acre estate and ten award-winning gardens. The centrepiece is the Queens Garden, so named because four of England’s queens – Anne Boleyn, Katherine Parr, Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I – once walked upon the original Tudor Parterre.

The Pheasantry at Sudeley houses a collection of 16 rare and endangered species of birds from around the world as part of Sudeley’s programme of breeding and conservation.
